Are Burgundy wines too expensive? No.

Can one generally like certain Burgundy wines such as Mercurey, Rully, Santenay, or Saint-Aubin? Not really.

However, one can appreciate the wine from a particular domain where, for the same appellation, the success can vary, along with a wide price range. I wish to convey my passion for Burgundy wines to you as accurately as possible. Thus, the selection of my partner domains is the raison d’être of What Wonderful Wine. These winemakers, whom you will discover, produce wines with an optimal quality/price/enjoyment ratio.

This selection work is crucial, and I must carry it out relevantly. I don’t believe we can talk about subjectivity in individual tastes regarding wine. Instead, I would talk about benchmarks that we develop and evolve through our discoveries and tastings. This is precisely what I do for you.

I visit as many domains as possible and conduct numerous tastings to make the best choices, thus allowing you to evolve your benchmarks in the right direction. I don’t necessarily go to the most famous domains, which are already well known among enthusiasts. No, to select the domains, I meet the winemakers, spend time with them to understand their philosophy, their history, where they come from, and why they use certain winemaking methods. But most importantly, I taste all the wines and each vintage with the aim, once again, to offer you the best for each appellation.

My work, therefore, is to pre-select the best wines from the best winemakers for you. This allows me to offer you a coherent selection without any missteps, intentionally limited to prevent you from getting lost among thousands of references. Because in Burgundy, there are no fewer than 3,577 wine estates for 84 appellations. It’s easy to get lost!

My job is to guide you among all these winemakers and offer you wines with an optimal quality/price/enjoyment ratio. This also involves conducting business responsibly to respect the work of these exceptional winemakers to the fullest.

I invite you to discover the list of my partner domains, which, I hope, will perfectly illustrate my points. Feel free to subscribe to the Newsletter if you wish to stay informed about the latest developments. I am delighted to share with you this exciting journey through the heart of Burgundy wines.
